Ashurst and Colbury Parish Council Precept 2026 – 2027

At the Full Council meeting held on 18th November 2025, Councillors voted to approve a 7% increase in the Parish Precept for the financial year 2026 – 2027.

This increase equates to an additional £4.31 per household for the year — a modest rise that supports the Council’s ability to maintain and improve local services.

Why the increase?
This decision was made following careful consideration of the Council’s ongoing commitments and costs associated with maintaining and improving local services.

The decision reflects growing costs and the Council’s commitment to delivering value for money while continuing to invest in:
• Maintenance of planters and public spaces
• Continued upkeep of public spaces and planters
• Community maintenance/improvements and small infrastructure projects
• Local events and initiatives that bring residents together
• Administrative duties and statutory obligations
• The new play area project, which is progressing well following a successful tender exercise.

This is scheduled for installation next year

The Precept is the portion of your Council Tax that supports the work of the Parish Council. Even with the increase, Ashurst and Colbury’s Precept remains modest compared to many neighbouring parishes.

Councillors remain committed to delivering value for money while supporting the well-being and vibrancy of our community.
