WATCHWORD

Page last updated on Wednesday, 14-Jul-2010

In recent months there has been an address check in our area, carried out by the O.N.S. (Office of National Statistics), in preparation for the 2011 census.

Now that we have all received our census forms, it has been confirmed with N.F.D.C. that the address check is over and unless re-checking the odd query, no-one should now be asking any information from any house-hold.

Should you be contacted by someone on the door-step, you can check their identity by calling this number 01329 444972 which is the Census Customer Service.

No-one should ask to enter your home or request personal information.

There have been several reports of a company by the name of S.A.S. (Security Alarm Systems) who are cold calling by telephone to induce people to agree to purchase an alarm system, “…..usually priced at £2,000.00 but you have been selected to have one of the last four remaining for £1.00……”

It is not a misprint.

That is the price they say they are offering but this only applies to advice given. You pay mightily for the system.

Yet another misleading and pressure cold-call. As always, the choice is yours but please beware.

This company will charge you well over and above what you actually need to pay.
