Scam Email

Neighbourhood Watch

A scam email  has been - in this instance - sent directly to a named resident.

It comes from "Hiu Au-yeung" who states he "is with the Hong Leong Bank, Hong Kong.

He states that a relative of the recipient of the letter went to the Hong Kong bank informing of a personal financial portfolio of $6.8million United States Dollars, which after various advice and actions by "Hiu An-Yeung" was enlarged to 10 million.

There is more dialogue but the crux is that in order for you to get the money, he wants half of it and wants 'all the relevant personal details' for this to be put in motion.

He gives details of how to contact him but I will retain these for fear of usage.

If you receive any letter of this kind, please either inform Trading Standards at the normal number or burn it as it will have your name and address on it.

There has recently been a burglary in the village and although the property was secure, neighbours heard sounds in the night but didn't query them.

PLEASE, IF YOU HEAR SOMETHING WHICH IS UNUSUAL - AND YOU KNOW THE PROPERTY IS EMPTY - RING THE POLICE.

The sooner they are informed, the sooner they can act.

The upset this incident has caused goes without saying especially as nothing could be done until the householders returned as no report was made.

You may have seen a poster of Leanne Turnbull on the village notice-board outside Alldays.

This had a sad conclusion as her body has now been found.
