The number of doorstep callers has been increasing of late.
Most times we can send them on their way but there are a few who will not take no for an answer.
There is a scheme – which has been created by Hampshire Trading Standards - called “No Cold Calling Zones.”
This initiative gives residents extra support in trying to reduce the number of cold – callers to their door.
Getting together with the neighbours in your street and applying to H.T.S. to become a N.C.C.Z isn’t at all difficult.
Rye Dale has become the first N.C.C.Z in Ashurst and hopefully more will follow.
You must elect a person to be a point of contact which will help in keeping all correspondence in order and aid in the collection of monies.
Formerly free, the cost of the sign(s) which will eventually be erected must be borne by the residents – depending on how many residents wish to contribute and how many signs are required.
Once you are registered, any caller who deliberately and continually ignores the signs can be reported to Hampshire Trading Standards who will take appropriate action against offenders.
