The New Forest Domestic Abuse Forum is holding a domestic violence briefing session on 17 February from 10am to 12 noon at Brockenhurst Village Hall.
The free event is open to all officers and members of the community.
A briefing will be given by solicitor Graeme Barclay from Warner Goodman, who is experienced in domestic violence cases.
He will explain the processes he undertakes and the tools available to him to decrease risk to victims and their families.
Graeme will also touch on areas where he believes improved joint working with statutory and voluntary sector agencies could reduce risk to the victims.
There will be an opportunity for questions and discussion time.
The Domestic Abuse Forum has organised this event to improve partner and community understanding of the processes available on a case-by-case basis when a victim approaches a solicitor for assistance.
Cllr John Penwarden, chair of the New Forest Domestic Abuse Forum, commented:
“I hope that anybody whose lives have been affected by domestic violence, or who works locally with victims, will attend this meeting. There will be a great deal of information available about where and how to seek support and it will inform everybody about the vitally important work carried out in the district.”
Anybody wishing to attend should e-mail Community Safety co-ordinator Stephanie Bennett stephanie.bennett@nfdc.gov.uk beforehand.
If you have young children, crèche facilities are available but please inform Stephanie of the ages of the children and any special needs they have at the time of booking
