It is with great sadness that the Parish Council have to report the death of Councillor Ann Holdsworth.
Ann, who died on 21st July at the Countess Mountbatten Hospital, will be sadly missed by a great number of people. She served on Ashurst & Colbury Parish Council for a number of years, and there were few people in the area who did not know her.
It was Ann who campaigned vigorously for Foot Clinics in the Waterside. During the time when she was so ill she still managed to set in place ten foot clinics. She achieved more than a fit person.
Ann was a lady who cared about people, a lady always ready to give a sympathetic ear to the troubles of others and to give practical help where it was needed.
Ann did not originate from this area but the beauties of the New Forest never ceased to enthral her. She was a lady of many interests and talents and in the last few months had taken up spinning. Spinning the wool from her sister’s sheep. She had all the technical terms for each stage of spinning and we often joked about her first exhibition.
Unfortunately this was not too be.
Unbeknown to many people Ann has been very ill for the past three years, but time after time she battled on cheerfully and always came up smiling to enjoy the time with her beloved dog Frazer.
One time whilst she was in hospital again having intense treatment for her cancer we held a ‘Council’ meeting around the bedside. Councillor Judd as she was then was with me and we have often laughed about that most precious time with Ann.
Her strength, kindness, friendship, humour and love will live in our hearts forever. Ann has left behind a legacy of veracity, integrity and a passion for life in all its fullness.
